People hate on the Black Eyed Peas. Actually, most people hate on the *NEW AND IMPROVED* Black Eyed Peas (or BEP for short). That’s me. I’ve never bought into the Fergie thing… and the only picture that pops into my mind when she comes up in conversation is *THAT* pictures with *THOSE* pants on *THAT* stage. Gross. Real hip hoppers don’t mess themselves. Well, I’m sure Ol’ Dirty Bastard did, but he prolly had a REASON. LOL.

So anyway, I’m not into the new stuff. I’m tired of Timba (even though everything he puts out is insanely catchy as hell)… and I haven’t really been moved by anything under 105 bpm lately (Gnarles Barkley’s Crazy grooves happily on 112). BUT, that just means more time with the 90’s hip hop that I grew up with.

With that being said, I’ve been listening to a LOT of BEP’s older stuff, namely the Bridging the Gap album. I have a lot of memories of driving back and forth from home and college with this CD on full blast. It’s a fun album to listen to, especially if you want to chill out. Lots of clever lyrics and funky jazz samples.

So as I was taking a listen down memory lane, I realized that one of their songs really simplifies how a relationship is supposed to work. Granted, it’s only 2 lines, but you’ll know what I mean. Hell, I even set it as my default cell phone ringer.

Hi Joy *wink wink*. Inside jokes galore! What a wonderful day it’s been already. I’ve somehow gained a renewed interest in throwing caution to the wind and enjoying the world as it is, without wishing for anything else. I love lazy Sundays. Made some french toast this morning with soymilk instead of the regular 2% with a rich cinnamon butter sauce and sliced bananas with vanilla yogurt. Weezer!!! I had my iPod on my “**Random RAWK” playlist and once I heard the intro guitar riff, I thought ringtone immediately. I’m pretty sure that I’m getting too excited with this ringtone movement, but as long as I’m making them for myself, I might as well share… right?

Incubus – Drive (‘Round and ‘Round sample)
My favorite band has remixed one of their most popular songs while on tour. In the middle of the track, there’s a breakdown where Brandon Boyd and Ben Kenny do a “Hold the wheel and drive” acapella round. Kinda like row row row your boat, but umm.. cooler. The new album, Demon Days drops May 24, 2005. I’ve seen the Feel Good Inc. Video and I must say that I’m still impressed with their ‘newness’ factor. They’re a cartoon band for goodness sakes! That’s so freakin’ COOL. And it doesn’t hurt to have the best producers/creative minds working on it. This time around, Danger Mouse (of Grey Album fame) will be @ the helm, throwin’ down on his tempo crazy upswings and random instrument choices. I LOVED the grey album.. and I’m happy what he’s done so far with Feel Good Inc.
