A Saturday Over the Bridge

Flickr Album A Saturday Over the Bridge here. Liana and I spent some time in downtown Kirkland / Redmond and Bellevue, WA yesterday to explore and get around town on one of our first weekends together (lawl it’s always our first weekend together). We headed out to Top Gun in Bellevue for dim sum and I have to say that as much as an authentic “run of the mill” kind of place it was… I liked it. In addition to the chicken feet, shrimp dumplings and seafood wrapped bean curd above in the pictures, we had deep fried tofu with shrimp, beef crepes, “fun noodles with peanut sauce” and salt and pepper calamari. DEELICIOUS! Actually, I’m kinda craving it right now. MAYBE I SHOULD JUST MOVE TO HK THEN. Hee hee.
The place is quite deceptive from the main streets. First you see an old wooden sign that screams “I’m just a shack in an industrial alley,” but when you turn the corner, you find row after roof of $60,000 cars in the parking lot that make you go “HMMM THIS PLACE HAS GOTTA BE GOOD I THINKS.” It does turn out to be a classy lookin’ joint… for a dim sum place that is. I mean, it’s got carpet, tanks full of live crustaceans and those silk flower buds taped to every pen in the joint… everything you need right? Hee hee.
Liana and I were the only ones in the party, so we were asked to choose between two tables close to the entrance which was fine by me. (read: WE GET FIRST DIBS FROM THE KITCHEN! LOL.) We arrived around 10:45 and the place still had room for big parties, but by 11:15am it was PACKED. The service was admittedly mediocre, with some of the staff huffing and puffing when we wanted items at the bottom of the steamer stacks, but that’s pretty much the norm for these places.
Would I take my friends / family there? Haha, yes. This has been a sort of “qualifying” characteristic that Liana and I ask ourselves at the end of every meal. I was full and she was too. Good times, good times.
Get Liana’s perspective of our meal here, as well as a ZOMGWOW post about crossing the street… WITH BADGERS. She has a blog too ya know.
YAY DIM SUM!
