Accessible Hacked-PS2’s? Sure!

I wrote about this before, but I guess it’s getting media attention again. Jason got excited about it, and I’m sure Mark would too… since he’s been flying that damned Sony flag since we were little. LOL. Engadget reports:
It’s not like folks haven’t been tinkering with something like this, but it’s quite refreshing to see an actual product emerge that promises to deliver on the claims we’ve been hearing about. Apparently, the Memor 32 memory card enables PlayStation 2 owners across the globe to effectively chip their console without requiring a single power tool. The unit promises to allow gamers to load / unload save games (not to mention backups, homebrews, etc.) to and from their PC, and there’s even a built-in USB connector to make things even simpler for you. ‘Course, we’d still like to see one of these in action before lauding it too enthusiastically, but if you’re willing to take a chance, MrModChips will gladly take your £33.49 ($70).
So… that’s $70 for the modchip + $129.99 for the silver redesigned PS2. That’ll run you a little over $200 for the chance to own every single PS2 game ever, which means you could play…
Katamari Damacy
Gran Turismo (for everyone else but me)
Every Final Fantasy game (VII!!!)
Amplitude (so many days wasted playing this game)
Kingdom Hearts
Tony Hawk 2 (OMG with max’d out cheats suuper fun)
…anytime you want. You wouldn’t even need to burn DVD’s since the hack will run the games right off of your PC’s hard disk. Convenient. I probably won’t bother doing it, since I’m happy with the 360 and the Wii… but it’s a fancy alternative to getting a brand new system!
Do you own a PS2?
