Playground – Korean bar / karaoke joint. Out of peach soju. Janet’s family owns this place. Chicken took too long. There’s seafood in the tofu stew – good! They put cheese with corn (and it’s hella good). Had to ask for scissors for the Jajamyun (black bean noodles) – reminded me of home. Definitely a place to go with the Korean crew from college.

Joy Luck Place – San Mateo isn’t that far away. It was dead @ 10AM then was almost at capacity around 10:30AM. Crazy. LOTS OF BABIES! Really pretty atmosphere. Jasmine tea was fragrant. Much props to the one lady that got everything that we wanted. I tried chicken feet for the first time… and while the flavor was great, I couldn’t get past the first series of bones. I think I was the only person who ordered white rice. I liked the taro root fried dumplings and the har gow (shrimp dumplings). Check out the ridiculous chinese donuts in the video blog. It was almost TOO much for us. Almost. LOL.

and Lollicup. IT SAYS ITS ON FIRST STREET, BUT REALLY IT IS ON SECOND STREET. Annoying. The lavender bubble tea was really bitter. I could have spent all day in that place. Lots of Hawaiian paraphernalia and nice people. If you live in San Jose, it’s right across the REP, whatever the hell that is. I would definitely come back, but I have no idea why. Quickly is a satisfactory substitute.
