Toasties – Generic Name, Original Eats

I had a delicious soup n’ sammich @ Toasties (no website, just Yelp) in the Inner Sunset District of San Francisco. Just one block from the 9th street stop on the Muni’s N Judah, right across Golden Gate Park!
I decided to eat when I got some grumblies in my tum-tum-tumblies after an excellent haircut (excellent due to the low degree of “back of neck” itchiness afterwards). The place is pretty simple – a clean counter, a couple of tables and chairs and a 40” wall-mounted LCD playing E! True Hollywood Stories. The sign outside the sammich joint lauded their crab melts as “The best in San Francisco,” which actually made me experience a Pavlov-ian drool moment cross the street in curiosity.
I walked in, and ordered the crab melt *with* clam chowder *with* crispy garlic curly fries *with* a Dr. Pepper. Building a meal with streaming consciousness. It was… (sigh) perfect. The elegant gastronomic ballroom dance of the toasted bread, the lush bechamel-like crab artichoke mixture (I would love to put it over pasta), the perfectly seasoned crispy curly fries tossed with pungent minced garlic… dipped in the “chunky enough” chowder was, to say the least… a spiritual experience. Wash that all down with the sweet, bubbly nectar that is Dr. Peppar (I was going for the rhyme)… and you have yourself an wonderiffic accompaniment to a “it’s warm in the sunshine, but cold in the shade” kind of day.
Wait a second. Elegant. Pungent. Spiritual experience. Was I just talking about a sandwich? Wow.
I need to get out more. LOL.

Sounds like a great review to put on yelp…
