Do Multi-Function Printers Really Function?

I just bought the HP Photosmart C3180 All in One Printer/Scanner/Copier for around $80 because I uhhh… need a Printer / Scanner / Copier. I’m not into multi-function gadgets, since they seem to excel @ only one facet of their features list… but I figure that I’ll need to use all 3 anyway for casual use. The reviews look good for everyday operation, but photo / graphic design printing is somewhat lacking. I’m not concerned since I’ll be using it for quick recipe print outs, as well as random coupons & certificates that I get from the I’net anyway.
We all know what happens to naughty electronics (updated!). Anyone have horror stories about this product?
I hope not, for the printer’s sake.

It’s too bad you already bought it. We have an extra printer from Christmas that we are not sure we are going to keep.

I almost got that exact same MFP for myself a few months ago, but then I decided to just get a standalone scanner, since my printer was (and is) still working fine.
My mom has a similar all-in-one from HP, an older model that also has fax capability, and she hasn’t had any complaints about it. So hopefully yours will work well too.

I have the same printer…Came free w/ my Macbook. No problems yet. Actually, I accidentally dropped it off my desk, and it still works! LOL!456

Not 2 weeks ago, i went for the big brother of this one, the c1780, to replace the unbelievably bad Epson mfp and cd/dvd printer twins you and I had, along with the janky $20 fax machine as well. Quality and speed are orders of magnitude better- but I think the biggest kick I got out of it was replacing 3 machines with one, and all the extra desktop space it freed up
