A Feast Fit for the SuperBowl!
Citrus-marinated flank steak and broiled scallops, served with three-mushroom risotto and braised kale with garlic and chile.
I did a “SuperBowl Snackage” demonstration @ work last week that consisted of fire-roasted salsa and teriyaki chicken wings. Just a couple simple recipes to get the game goin’. It went over pretty well and it would have actually come in handy… if I was going to a Super Bowl party. Hee hee.
I spent the day with Steph… breaking in her bike, walking around her neighborhood and just veggin’ around. What beautiful weather. 70 degrees in February! It’s funny, but in the Springtime in Chicago… I would always catch myself breathing in the cool breeze, while muttering to myself… “This is California weather.” Now it just seems awkward. Dammit. LOL.
Oh, I also took a short, 30-second video of my first bike ride in a few years (!!!) not only to show you that I can’t multi-task on two wheels, but the fact that it’s so damn beautiful out. YAY.
Youtube link here. It was everything I thought it would be. PLUS FOOD.
I haven’t really *cooked cooked* for Steph since we started hanging out, so I wanted to make a memorable meal… and since one of her favorite Italian dishes is risotto… I decided to make that with a lil’ surf n’ turf combo. I won’t really get into the details, but all I can recommend for both flank steak and scallops.. is heat. High heat. Volcano heat. The heat allows for browning, which categorically tastes better than stuff without those delicious lines.
As for the game, I was screaming @ the television… popping back and forth with Steph’s DVR.. trying to make sense of the loss. I set my expectations incredibly low, so I don’t feel as bad. Hee hee.
At least the food was good!

Some things never change. I bet Steph’s bike was a girls bike, wasn’t it? And screw you with your nice weather
It snowed while I was in the office today, and I had to brush off my car and wait for it to warm up before leaving for home.
