Thanks for Being *That* Kind of Girl…
It’s funny how casual conversation can invoke such critical thinking. Jocelyn (Happy Birthday again!) and Jeff (librarians are cool!) were having a discussion about **The ONE song you could hear on repeat for the rest of your life**. This might be a little sudden, but I can honestly say that the track featured above (especially this performance), taken off the A Crow Left of the Murder album, has become one of my favorite songs of all time.
…Why?
Because its slow, delicate lyrics and defined instrumentation sends me into a dreamy, surreal “love @ first sight” experience every time I give it a listen. Yeah. Le sigh. Hee hee.
Do you have a song like that? I know it’s hard to answer, but really give it some thought… you’ll feel so satisfied when you figure it out. Also, give the music video another listen… and if you can, please follow along with the lyrics. It’s truly inspiring.
Incubus – Here in my Room (Live in Milan)
This party is old and uninviting
Participants all in black and white
You enter in fullblown technicolor
Nothing is the same after tonight
If the world would fall apart
In a fiction worthy wind
I wouldn’t change a thing
Now that you’re here
Yeah, love is a verb here in my room
Here in my room, here in my room
You enter and close the door behind you
Now show me the world as seen from the stars
If only the lights would dim a little
I’m weary about eyes upon my scars
If the world would fall apart
In a fiction worthy wind
I wouldn’t change a thing
Now that you’re here
Yeah, love is a verb here in my room
Here in my room, here in my room
Pink tractor beam into your incision
Head spinning as free as dervishs’ whirl
I came here expecting next to nothing
So thank you for being that kind of girl
That kind of girl

Yeah, for me its “Violet” by Seal (synth pop at its best…at least it is in my opinion) OR “Sister Moon” by Sting (simple, elegant, beautiful).
OOH OOOH! OR “Nonfiction” by The Black Crows. Man, that one is sooo good…
Gosh, its hard to nail down just one.
