T-Shirt Timecode

T-shirts. They’re as ubiquitous as… well… I dunno. I mean, what is as ubiquitous as a t-shirt? Blue jeans? Apples pie? Hula hoops? Styx? LOL. How does that phrase go again? Maybe. Well anyway, I messed that opening line up royally. ROFL.
What I’m trying to say is that t-shirts have never, ever, ever, ever gone out of style. They’re everywhere! They’re as ubiqui… crap. LOL. Baby boomers wear t-shirts of places they’ve been (OMG $3 KEY WEST SHIRTS). Fashion designers and their droves of would-be fashionistas will critically critique themselves and others while (ironically) only wearing a simple black tee . James Dean (and the 1,000’s of twenty/thirtysomethings that aspire to be his reincarnation) made the white tee + pack of rolled up smokes + leather jacket famous. But as ubiquitou… OH MY GOD.
*ahem*
But as popular as t-shirts are, I have only found a few designs that have really made me think. Sure, I know I’ve bought a ton from Threadless, but I buy them for the fun factor. You know, something to throw on while I throw a frisbee around in Golden Gate Park. But the very concept that you see above really made me stop and tilt my head.
Blanka’s Build Timecode t-shirt (£29). They’ve taken the length of time of a certain song (in this case New Order’s Blue Monday), and made *that* the t-shirt. Genius. It makes a lot of sense. When you actively listen to one of your favorite songs (again, in this case Blue Monday), the seven minutes and twenty-nine seconds it takes from start to finish is completely yours. The memories that come flooding into your mind could make it seem as if you’ve lived lifetimes, but the shirt says 7m 29s. You have that time to cry, repent, laugh and sing along. And like most great songs, they leave you wanting more… but that’s what the repeat function is for. Hee hee.
I wish they did custom jobs. I’d love to have a…
PROJECT!!!
