Just A Walk Across The Street!

Civic Center’s Farmer’s Market! 6 red onions, $1. 2 baby bok choy, $0.50. 1/2 lb. of green beans, $0.50. 5 large zucchinis, $1. One chicken mole, pork with red sauce, pork with green sauce tamales, all made by someone’s Mexican grandmother (I met her!), $5. Eight bucks for a lot of freshly-picked / quality food that should last me through out the week (with a little help from some bulk chicken breasts and pork chops)!
Thankfully, most of the booths were headed by the farmers themselves… AND MAN DO THEY LOVE TO TALK PRODUCE. Things like “Braise THIS with a little soy and a touch of brown sugar,” and “I stuff my fennel in the Sea Bass that I get from those guys (points two tents down) and cook it in a parchment paper pouch” are within earshot all the time. It feels like home!!! Tons of fun.
I’m not gonna say that I got a phatty discount because I was carrying the local culinary school’s bag… but I did.
MWMWAHAHAHHAHA!
