Daily Rotation… Rotated.
Lots of great music lately! Every couple of months, I get discouraged by the immediate future of music trends and swear off any new artists that come my way. I’m fickle dammit. Well anyway, once I lose all hope… a bunch of my favorite artists come with it and release new albums. YAY. Below are a few albums that have received a lot of love on my daily rotation this past week:
Nelly Furtado – Loose
Aceyalone with RJD2 – Magnificent City
Amel Larrieux – Morning
Thievery Corporation – Versions
Zero 7 – The Garden
Madlib – Beat Konducta, Vol. 1-2
I haven’t listened to any of the albums properly enough to give any sort of concrete review… but I’m really diggin’ the slow, atmospheric “No One Else” on the Amel Larrieux’s new disc and RJD2’s electro meets hip-hop beats on “Superhero”. At first blush, I noticed that the latest Zero 7 album is lacking the thick, lush chords that I’ve fallen in love with in When it Falls and Simple Things. Sadness. The Thievery Corp. CD is a remix album… so yeah. Don’t get me wrong… I *love* Thievery Corporation, but all these damn downtempo/broken beat artists need to stop remixing old shit and focus on the path in which to take the genre. But I’m not bitter. LOL.
Good music is hard to find…
…and that’s what makes it so worth it.
