Mr. Silvers, Why Have You Forsaken Me?
Long John Silvers has got to be the best and worst mass produced fast food chain in Illinois. They fry everything in one large vat until it all tastes the same. Sure it’s @ the bottom of the culinary food chain (I’m so punny), but I love the contrast between a light and crisp outer crust and a moist, flavorful interior… especially in their hush puppies. LJS has also introduced me to malted vinegar, which goes absolutely fantastic with anything fried. Honest.
So while I was looking for the closest one to my house, I was amazed at how many there were around me. Apparently, I was so amazed that I had to tell someone.
monochromeskyy: i have 5 LJS’ around me
monochromeskyy: all are 7 miles away
Samuel LAme: Hahahahahaha
monochromeskyy: WTF
monochromeskyy: im trying to head calculate
monochromeskyy: time of day traffic
monochromeskyy: and construction
Samuel LAme: That’s amazing.
monochromeskyy: HAHAH
Samuel LAme: You’re right in the nucleus ofg the LJS atom
Yay. LJS love! When I told Jason… he said:
jas: what u do is
jas: dont eat ljs
monochromeskyy: i’ve been googlemapping all of them
monochromeskyy: BUT ITs SOOOO GOOD
jas: of all fast food tho.. ljs is the prime grease offender in my head
Boo. One vote against. So then I asked Alice what she thought…
monochromeskyy: Ally, what do you think of long john silvers?

…LOL. If I went down my buddy list, I’m pretty sure that 70% of my friends would say not to go. If it wasn’t so damn cold outside, I’d already be on my way to fried heaven. Sigh. I guess I’ll just make myself a tuna melt and some baked chippys. You guys never let me have any fun.
BUT I LOVE YOU ANYWAY

Believe it or not, I went to LJS for the first time ever, just a couple of weeks ago. A new one opened up near where I work in Oak Brook and some of my co-workers wanted to check it out so I tagged along. I don’t think I’d ever actively crave the food there, but I haven’t ruled out eating there again.

For the price you pay for LJS you prolly could find a bar that hosts All You Can Eat fish n chips. Not the same… but it’s all about beer n fish n chips. If you’re in Andersonville T’s does it for $12… they give you frites and aioli too i think
