My Kingdom For Two AA Batteries!

No surprise today. Can’t release it just yet. Sorry
But anyway…
So I was sitting @ my desk minding my business and as I reached for my bag to bust out my headphones… I HEARD AND FELT A LOUD POP close by and my wireless mouse jumped a lil’ bit. Scared the hell out of me. WTF!?!?!? What just happened?
I picked up the ’silver surfer’ (That’s not it’s name, but now that you mention it…) and rattled it a lil’ bit to see what was going on in there. No loose parts, as far as I could tell. When I looked at the mousepad where the mouse had been, there was a small puddle of a milky white substance. I immediately freaked and went crazy with the paper towels, cause last I heard… battery acid wasn’t good for mammals.
Yup. Both of my Duracell Silver Super Life Extra High Tech AA Batteries exploded @ THE SAME TIME. Luckily, none of my equipment (or hands) were damaged. But seriously… What the hell? Does anyone have an explaination for it?
Freaky!

It has to be the mouse because I was using my mouse yesterday and I heard a loud pop and felt it on my hand. My mouse is a little different than the one pictured above. I was using energizer batteries. Going to look around for more info on this. Think I’ll plug the old mouse back in first.

Using a Logitech wireless/optical mouse with DURACELL pro cell batteries, same thing loud ….pop then mouse stops working. Remove the battery and its leaking (bubbling) milkish colored liquid. Cleaned out the mouse battery compartment put two new RayoVacs back in works great.

Just had a Duracell AA battery 04-27-09 about 7:15pm become superhot and begin to peel its covering inside the casing of an an old portable radio I have. Strangest thing. The battery shifted out of position, out of three AA batteries inside, all end to end, when for some reason my 5 yr old granddaughter picked it up to look at it. I had it sitting on top of my microwave, which wasn’t being used at the moment. The rear cover fell off the radio, and trying to put it back on, the battery was superhot, near leakage, but not quite. I pryed out the battery and stuck the battery outside to cool off. Weird.
Back in Aug of 2000 I had the chance for a photo opportunity with President Clinton, and I had a spare AA Duracell battery in my left pocket as a backup battery for my penlight. As we posed for the picture, I felt incredible heat in my left pocket — Not understanding why my pocket was becoming hot, I reached in my left pocket, and this battery was hot too. I figured that one out. I forget I had the battery in my pocket! My house keys have several keys on a ring and being inside my pocket with the battery, all I can think of is two of the keys must touched the top and bottom of the battery at the same time, sending battery power into my keys. When I discovered this, I removed the battery and thought whew, I could have had the battery explode in my pocket and have the Secret Service think of the unthinkable while they pounced on me in an instant, not to say what could have happened to my left thigh region if an explosion had occurred. I learned NEVER to carry a spare battery in any pocket from then on.
