Geisha Of Flying Memoirs

This is the official poster for Memoirs of a Geisha that was shown at a recent convention in New York. I edited the live shot (from here) and cleaned it up a lil bit for blog use. Hooray for Fireworks!
The first cut of Memoirs of a Geisha starring Zhang Ziyi was submitted to Columbia Pictures executives today. It’s based on the book of the same name. Details on the translation from book to film wasn’t stated. The book was filled inner conflict and deep thought, which has me wondering how it will be portrayed on screen. Yahoo has some production pictures as well as the vital info:
This is the story of Nitta Sayuri, sold to a geisha house at the age of 9, the training she goes through to become a geisha, and the life she leads as one.
Ok. The story is a little more involved than that. I’ve since given my book away to someone, but if I still had it, I’d give it a reread to freshen up my take on the story. I’d suggest reading the book before walking into the local movie theatre only because I don’t think it’ll do it justice. Sure, I’ll go see it when it comes out on December 9th, 2005 (worldwide), but I’ll be the one in the back with a pen and pad taking notes and muttering profanities under my breath. Maybe.
Anyone want to split some nachos? ![]()

I was just passing by. Nice blog.
I loved that book. I don’t think there is anyway a movie can live up to the book. I don’t have my copy of it either. I think my mom took it.
