Puzzle Fighter II X: For Matching Service

I finally have all the essential of my stuff (computer / audio equipment) setup in my new place. It drives me CRAZY when I have that ‘not-quite-completely-setup’ feeling in the back of my mind. Gel came by and I dusted off some old burned games and I popped in the Japanese version of Puzzle Fighter II X: For Matching Service before we watched Shaun of the Dead. I played the original version to death in college and @ Nickel City in Northbrook. Good times.
This version has three kinds of game play which includes the ‘X’ type that we all know and love. Drop the individual gems next to and around other gems of the same color and create larger “BOOYAKA” gems. Then, with the help of an ‘orb’, destroy the humungo gems (hopefully in ultra combo fashion) and watch your opponent squirm as they anticipate the downpour of gems to their side of the screen.
I haven’t played the other types extensively, but the ‘Y’ Type begins with ‘unlocked gems’ to start and must be cleared to win. The ‘Z’ Type is more of a traditional puzzle game where you are given a cursor 2 x 2 gems wide to rotate the gems and clear them a la Bejeweled (OMG ADDICTING).
Want more? There’s a short demo online on Capcom’s site here. Cheats and a short F.A.Q. can be found here too. Oh and if you’re wondering who won that night (best of 3), I have been forbidden to divulge that information.
But if I could, I’d tell you that all that practice in college really paid off! ![]()

Shaun of the Dead is a funny ass movie. The best part was when Ed and Shaun are leaving the pub and they are singing and dancing to White Lines. I love it!
