Sunday, Fatty Sunday

Korean BBQ

I love my camera phone/sushi/Korean bbq! Yesterday’s antics have been archived as a Flickr web album located here. I woke up, had some sushi @ sushi station, did some freelancing @ Borders and then ended the night @ the Chicago Kalbi House.

Description from Metromix:

For authentic cook-it-yourself Korean barbecue, this is the place to go. Once your beef short ribs are grilled (on the table top), wrap the meat in lettuce leaves and dollop on some spicy soybean paste. The usual pickles and condiments arrive with your meal. Note: You’ll reek of barbecue smoke for the rest of the day or night, but the experience is well worth the stench.

DELICIOUS. We ordered Combo “C” which was a tray of raw bulgogi (Korean marinated beef), squid and chicken to be cooked over some insanely hot charcoal RIGHT @ THE TABLE! I counted 15 side dishes (kim chee, potato salad, assorted pickled veggies) including soup. It was everything I thought it would be and more. Couple that with two 22oz. bottles of Hite Korean Beer and you’ll have yourself a belly so full of goodness you don’t know whether to cry out in pain, or shed tears of joy.

I think I did a little bit of both. LOL happy

My cousin said she went to Jin Ju, the yuppie counterpart I guess… or let’s call it Korean food 101. They only give you 5 side dishes!

There’s one on Lincoln, a tad north of Foster Ave… I forgot what that one is called, and if it still exists. That was an awesome Korean do it yourself BBQ
