AllThingsChill: Sittin’ On 22’s

Picture taken from the AcuraInspired forums.
I’ve bee seeing a LOT of this car lately, sans the convertible roof (It was an aftermarket mod). It seems as though everyone is getting the Crysler 300c or the new Ford Mustang. I really like the Mustang, and I can understand why people young and old are buying them for the summer time… but…
Why the Crysler 300c?
It seems… bulky. I think the reason why I really don’t like it is because when it first came out, I thought they were all Bentleys. I was doing double takes every other second. Annoying. Which brings me to the question… is it a Bentley for the everyday man?
I can understand the ‘family’ applications for it. It’s stable, roomy and has a big trunk. But most of the 300c’s that I’ve seen are being driven by twenty/thirty somethings. What is its appeal? Does it represent the cool new cheaper sedan alternative to the Cadillac Escalade?
I’m not trying to give anyone shit for buying/wanting one. Do whatever you want with your money. I’m just wondering why it’s so damn popular. Did I miss something here?
I guess I haven’t been reading enough Maxim / Stuff / GQ / Car&Driver / InsertMakeMeCool&MasculineMagazine. ![]()

OH shit! I thought I was the only one that thought they were Bentleys. I would do double takes to. I’ll be on the phone parked next to one and telling my friend damn there’s a nice Bentley right beside me, must be a football player or something. Till the car drove away. I love the new mustang. I rented one for the weekend and I had so much fun in it. Everybody got out of my way. I got to Orlando in so little time. It was the best. I still haven’t watched Sideways. I’ll blog my thoughts when I do . bah

I want one, but then again, I’ve been getting a Chrysler/Dodge itch lately. The 300 shares similar lines to the Dodge Magnum and Dodge Charger, which I both like. Their styling is doing more to bring back the retro look than the Mustang. The Mopars are better looking overall, whereas the Mustang is only nice to look from the front. The rear is just ugly. I guess that’s fine, since I’d be in front of a ‘05 Mustang more than I’d be behind one

“The Mopars are better looking overall, whereas the Mustang is only nice to look from the front.”
Two things:
1. THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID.
and…
2. So… Kinda like J.Lo… but BACKWARDS.
Sorry… had to do it.

I like the Magnum a whole lot more than i do the 300. [Tried to convince my mom to get one instead of her Forester, heh] The chunkiness around the nose/grille area of the 300 strikes me as odd, or out of place.. it doesn’t fit their ‘brand identity’, if you look at the design of their other most recent cars, like the Pacifica and the Crossfire. [Although I don't really care so much for those designs either, too much Mercedes synergy to them.] The thick nose definitely befits the Dodge wagon. If the 300 signifies a new direction for the brand’s design, good for them.. hope they can refine it further and release more cool cars.
an aside: this just isn’t right.

I wholeheartedly agree that the Magnum and Charger are better looking than the 300, but of the domestic sedans out there, I like the 300 better than, say, the Impala or the Crown Victoria, and the Avalon or the Accord. The Asian designs are lost on me lately, save for the WRX, and I can’t afford the European sedans I covet (not that I can afford any car at this point).

I really like the WRX… I was in a white 2005 WRX STI last weekend and it was a really smooth ride. It’s been so long since I’ve been in a rice burner… It was kind of refreshing
The body style is smooth and very easy on the eyes. If I could (and I still can), I’d get the WRX STi. Or a semi-huge suv. Or a passat. Or a new bluetooth phone.
yeah. a bluetooth phone.

I have seemingly forgotten to mention this, but I still love the Corvette. Despite the un-Corvette styling that happened to it with the C5, the design team is starting to get the Corvette feeling back with the c5-1/2. The wheel “humps” are coming back, and so did the round tail lamps, but the stationary head lamps still bother me despite the aerodynamic advantage.

Good day from DOWN UNDER.
I have just returned from visiting friends in the US were I did notice a lot of the 300C s’. On the 1st of November 2005 they will be on sale here in Australia through our Crysler dealerships across the nation. When my lease runs out on my four door Holden pickup I think I will be buying one.
The conertable pic at the top of this site looks great. If that is on the market when I go to purchase then that is what I will buy.

well i have one of the wounderfull 300C HEMI 5.7 so far she is so hot and lux and fast and it turns heads where ever u go.any way the one in the pic i found so nice to chop the roof but even thu i prefer the one with the roof butr i wouldnt mind owning and convertable as a second car,but as the one in the pic i find i so classy and its very suitable for rich girl who loves shopping and they should be good lookin..any way im thinking more about owning the SRT8 which is the exact same as the one i own but with a 6.1 425hp engin the only diffrence do far is the engin and the little rear wing any way im happy so what i got but im thinkin more as the 22″ inch RIMs and LSD door and the front grill and tint all over the windows and an air ride system but the thing is that how much will it cost me for such upgrades? and i need to know how much the one in the pic so i might buy it as a gift for a speacial lady who owns a LV bags and wear valinteno and dimonds all over and pearls well that what a lady should be i mean not only the looks but also the high calss behaviour!!

Hey is that 300 a custom or is it actually on the market?
December 27th, 2007 at 12:15 pm
I bought a 300 Touring in August 07, fanatstic auto, all the bells and whistles, and over £20K below the equivalent Mercedes 300, it’s a no brainer!
