How to Cut…

Congratulations, you bought me those knives that I wanted (previous post)! You also decided that you wanted a set for yourself, mainly because you can’t stand other people having cooler shit than you. That’s OK I suppose, but isn’t there a problem Mr./Ms. “I want all the cool stuff without knowing how to use it”? You always buy all the cool stuff without knowing how to use it!
Thank goodness for the internets. Hertzmann.com has a beautifully illustrated article simply titled: ‘How to Cut…‘ The pictures are exteremely clear, consise and very easy to understand. What is quite amazing is that the directions are for left AND right handed people. I’m not ambidextrous (the ladies would disagree of course *wink wink nudge nudge*), but it’s nice to know that they included everyone in the article.
I’ve been cooking for a while, absorbing cooking techniques like a sponge from the good (Alton Brown, Martha, Rachel Ray, the Cook Like a Chef Team) AND bad (Ming Tsai, Booby Flay, Rocco). I thought I had the basics down. You should have seen the ‘AHHHHH, that’s how you do it’ look on my face after I read the article. It’s really good info to know.
If you’re just starting to dabble in the black arts of culinary tomfoolery, give it a look. Experts should give it a quick readover as well. I bookmarked that page and pull it on the kitchen laptop** in case I need to reference it.
Make Yourself.
