It always comes back to House
Weekend Highlights:
I went out with Jorge to Sonotheque to see Ron Trent, who threw down on some African/Soud Ouest de la France/Tribal House. Besides the great musique, belly dancers were taking up dance floor real estate shakin’ their hips and doing that ‘come hither stare’ that they’re so good @. Drinks? 2 Tanqueray and Tonics and beer in a thick white (think ibook) bottle (Anyone care to guess what brand? I had no idea). We left right before Sonotheque closed and headed to Smartbar to check out JT Donaldson. He spun REALLY REALLY repetitive disco/dub house which took a long time to get used after a night with Trent. I wasn’t a fan. He played some good tracks.. especially a REALLY funky remix of U Know What’s Up by Donnel Jones (sans Left-Eye), but by the time he played that, I already had on my ‘damn I’m drunk/tired’ face. It was good times, Jorge even made me 2 salt tacos!
I watched 1/2 of Garden State with J on Saturday after a dinner of Mongolian beef, Spicy Pork Lo-Mein and fried dumplings. Sunday, some things went down, so I came home and did an unannounced set on DL to chill out.
